Blackjack Strategy When Splitting a Pair of Tens
Stand: Always stand on a pair of tens.
Why to stand on a pair of tens
A pair of tens means you add the total to 20. This is actually a very powerful hand that can only be beaten by a blackjack from the dealer or tied with another 20. The basic strategy says to stand on a pair of tens rather than splitting them.
The reason why you shouldn't split two 10's up is apparently not the best idea. Even though basic strategy assumes that tens will be drawn, you still have to get two tens in order to get double 20's and you already have a pair of tens on the board. A lot of things have to go correctly in order to win and the mathematical odds says it only makes sense to stand with a monster 20 hand rather than risk splitting it and losing two hands or breaking even.
